Alabama Sheriffs Association names building after long time Executive Director

During the 2016 Summer Training Conference of the Alabama Sheriffs Association, Monroe County Sheriff Thomas Tate moved to name the association building located in the heart of downtown Montgomery after long time Executive Director Robert D. "Bobby" Timmons. The motion was seconded by every Sheriff in attendance and passed unanimously.

Mr. Timmons has served as Executive Director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association since 1975, when the office was located in Prattville. In the early 1980's, he secured the property located at 514 Washington Avenue in Montgomery for the future site of the headquarters of the Alabama Sheriffs Association.

The association office sits proudly on a raised foundation overlooking the Avenue of the Flags of the Alabama Capitol complex.

The Sheriffs of Alabama applaud Bobby Timmons for his 40+ years of untiring, relentless, and unprecendented representation of the Sheriffs of Alabama, in particular, and Alabama law enforcement in general.
